Trouble Shooting
Trouble Shooting:
We have
discovered that NOT ALL COMPUTERS ARE CREATED EQUAL! Because the
Mercury Messenger is designed to communicate with large numbers of computers in
varying configurations it sometimes becomes an issue of cleaning up, repairing and
fixing computers before Phoenix System Instant Messenger can work properly.
TYPICAL
ISSUES THAT MAY APPLY TO YOUR COMPUTER:

An old, Windows
95 operating system, version 1.0 operating on an antique that has a very
slow processor. Phoenix Messenger may still operate on this
configuration but we may need to do some tune up of your computer first.
Same issues with older versions of Windows 98.

An up to date,
modern computer with all of the correct hardware and software but KIDS are
using the computer. If this is your situation it is likely that your
computer is corrupted internally; both in the operating system AND on your
hard disk drive. Computer games, downloads, viruses, spyware, etc. result
from the unknown places children cruise into on the internet. We have
experienced some people whose e-mails took 1-2 minutes to open. After
visiting Sick
Computers they experienced fast moving computers once again.

Our
recommendation if you have children using your business computer is to
invest in an inexpensive computer for them and to protect your business
enterprise by your computer being exclusively yours.

We have found
people with zero operating RAM (memory). A total RAM of 56K in an
environment that needs 100-200k produces zero to minimal results.

Norton Firewall
is a problem as well. It worked well prior to the Windows XP Update
#2. Since then many previously supportive software programs have had difficulties.
Such is true with the Norton Firewall. At Sick
Computers
we have included instructions on tuning up your Norton Firewall.

You have received a recommendation to perform a SHORT-SIMPLE REINSTALL:
1) There is no need for
you to re-register your USERNAME and information, that is already in the
system or you wouldn't have received this recommendation.
2) If you have Firewalls
up on your computer, it is recommended that you disable them for this simple
download. Not necessary in 90% of the installations, but just a
suggestion .
3) Click on this Link and
follow the recommendations being made.

Unable To Obtain Verification After Installing The Software and Entering
Your Username And Password.
We'll need to remove the software
1) Go to Start.
2) Control Panel.
3) Add or Remove Software.
4) Scroll down until you find remove Desktop Alert and or
Mercury Messenger.
5) Select it or (them both) and remove.
6) If you have Firewalls up on your computer, it is
recommended that you disable them for this simple download. Not
necessary in 90% of the installations, but just a suggestion.

Ok..you
tried..and things didn't work as well as you had hoped and you would like to
clean-up the mess and start over, simply follow these instructions.
First of all..we
have prepared a
FREE DIAGNOSTICS AND COMPUTER TUNE UP PAGE. Go to this
page and work your way through the tests and fixes recommended:
A) Be sure
you have only ONE FIREWALL operating on your computer
B) Be sure
you have only ONE ANTI-VIRUS program operating on your computer
C) If you
have kids that are using your computer it might be wise to get them their
own computer and free your computer for your exclusive use for building your
business. Games leave a lot of debris and fragmentation in your
operating system and your hard drive.
